WALDOCK, Lois, (Beals) Lois died peacefully in her sleep on Mother's Day, May 8, 2016 at the age of 98. A Memorial will be held at 2PM, Saturday, May 14 in the lunchroom of the Ramsey Co. Care Center, 2000 White Bear Ave. St. Paul. Lois loved school and graduated from Eau Claire HS in 1936 and then from the Ancker School of Nursing with an RN degree. While serving as a pediatric nurse she met and married Robert Waldock. In 1968, when Robert died, she returned to her career as a psychiatric nurse. Lois was preceded in death by: her youngest son, James, seven weeks ago; parents, Ida and Minor Beals; siblings, Margaret Wendt, Gertrude Rude, Marvin Beals, Laura Devlin, Leona Whinnery, Jesse Johnson, and Hazel Noelck. She is survived by: her buddy and younger sister, Dorothy Easterson; four children, Robert (Nancy), Ken (Marilyn), Wendy (Yanchy) Lacska and Laurie (Mark) Duncan; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, five nieces and nephews. Lois was a well-loved resident of the RCCC for over 6 years and will be greatly missed. Her genuine interest in others and sense of fun made conversation with her easy and enjoyable. Lois always expressed her appreciation for the kind acts of others and was herself a very caring and and helpful person. She enjoyed driving people along the river to look at the scenery, especially Fall colors. She was a prolific and talented writer of poetry, newsletters, humorous skits and an excellent children's book. She authored a beautifully written book of the story of her family history, turned that into a memorable play which she then directed and produced for a family reunion! Lois had many interests including: traveling, sewing, cooking, crafts, gardening, music, Gopher Women's Basketball, hockey and reading. She will be remembered as a beautiful, fun, intelligent and informed person who, up to the end, read the newspaper cover to cover daily and enjoyed reading novels about history, who always tried to make the best of situations, who prided herself on fixing things and never wasting anything. When recently asked what she liked about being a psych nurse she replied, "Everyone deserves to be loved." Oh what gal she was!
