Captain, Company B, 22nd Regiment, Alabama Volunteers. Left the state university at Tuscaloosa to enlist as a private in the Twenty-second Alabama Regiment, was appointed sergeant major, lieutenant, then captain (September 14, 1864), before he was eighteen years old, was known as the "boy captain" of Deas' brigade, killed in the battle of Franklin, November 30, 1864, age 19 years and 7 days.
