Uncle Norman died the morning I created this memorial. We will miss him greatly, but we also celebrate his wonderful life and that he will now be with his eternal sweetheart. His obituary was added from Flamm Funeral Home's online obituaries.

Norman Blackburn Erickson
(December 15, 1915 - December 31, 2011)

Norman Blackburn Erickson, 96 of Archer Idaho returned to his Heavenly Father after having a great breakfast on Saturday morning, December 31st, in his own home with his family by his side; his passing was quick and peaceful.

Norman was born December 15, 1915 at Archer to Herman and Gladys Erickson. He grew up on a large farm with a lot of animals. He dearly loved the Lord, his family, good books (westerns were a favorite) and horses. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the western states.

He married Bessie Amelia Small on March 11, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. They raised six children. He served in many callings in the LDS church and sang in the church choir from an early age unto his 90's.

After they both retires, he and his wife Bessie served a mission to Johannesburg, South Africa and then returned and spent 20 years as officiators in the Idaho Falls temple.

Norman is survived by his sons; Eric Edwin (Beverly) Erickson, Norman Small (Susan) Erickson, Victor Small (Mona) Erickson, Herman Small (Michelle) Erickson, and daughters; Georgia Marie Erickson and Tonya Jean Erickson (Gerard) Junkert, 28 grandchildren and 58 great grandchildren, two sisters; Olive Smith of Archer and Phyllis Smith of Idaho Falls. He was preceded in death by his wife Bessie Amelia, his parents Herman and Gladys Erickson. 6 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2012 at The Archer/Sunnydell LDS Church where the family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Friday prior to services. Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
