John Fisher son of William and Mary Harrison Fisher was born near Stilesville, Indiana February 4, 1883 (should be 1833). He was the second of a family of eleven children, and grew to manhood near Stilesville.
He was twice married. To the first union was born five children. four son Silas H. John Robert, George Washington, Hugh; and one daughter Isabell Bryant to the second union was born one daughter Carrie Bowman, of Indianapolis.
He was a Union soldier, enlisting in Co. B. 152nd Ill., serving one year, and was honorably discharged on account of the loss of eye and other causes.
He united with the Lutheran church at Richland in early life, and lived a devoted and faithful member until he moved to Monrovia, when he united with the Highland Friends Church and lived a faithful Christian life until his death, March 26 1910 age 77 years 1 month 22 days.
He lives to morn his demise, a wife, four sons, two daughters one brother and one sister
