She was baptized in the Fairview Church of Christ located south of Villisca; was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Emblem Charter, of Corning, Iowa, and the Rainbow Garden Club.
She was untied in marriage Harry A. Cooney at Clarinda, Iowa, October 20, 1920. He passed away April 5, 1971. To this union seven children were born, Leonard Cooney, Oakland, Iowa, Mrs. Murl (Reva) Greenfield, Villisca; Joe Cooney, San Francisco, California, John Cooney, Villisca, Iowa, and Manford Lyle, Kenneth Dean, and Lois Jean, who have preceded her in death.
The family farmed in the vicinity of Guss, Nodaway, and Brooks. They moved to Villisca in 1968 at the time they retired from farming.
In addition to her husband and three children, she was also preceded in death by two brothers. Surviving to mourn her passing are the four children, nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Reva Stamps of Gravity and Maravena Spring of Corning; two brothers, Ted McCoy of Villisca and Alva McCoy of Spokane, Washington, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Villisca, August 14 at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Eldon Haworth officiating. Interment was in the Villisca, Iowa Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Russell Cooney, Dennis Cooney, Richard Greenfield, Dennis Johnson, Rick Diemer and Alan Gridley. Eastern Star Service was conducted by the Emblem Chapter No 64 of Corning, Iowa.
