This photo, was inherited by Victoria Alexander, a descendant of Col. William Withrow Wier, a first cousin of Robert Orville Wier, Sr.
Col. Wier's daughter was Betty Kirkland (1861-1936), and "Wier or Kirkland?" was written on the back of the photo at a later time.

The photo was taken around the 1880s-90s at Gainesville, Florida.
In 1900, Rev. R.O. Wier lived 30 miles from Gainesville.
He also closely resembles a photo of his brother, John S. Wier.

Robert O. Wier Jr. was born in Noxubee Co., Miss. His death certificate says he was born 30 Dec 1861 in Miss., son of R.D.(sic) and Ama (Amy) Wier, and died in Dallas though a resident of Marshall, Tx., at which time he was married and his wife was named Anna. He married Susie E. Wilson 8 Feb 1904 in Birmingham, AL. THE FLOW OF FOUNTAINS (1999) by June Jones Igo p. 441 gives her name as Sarah Elizabeth. He was a member of the Florida Conference, 1880s-90s (History of Methodism in Alabama and West Florida (1960) by Marion Elias Lazenby, pp.506, 508; Minutes of the annual conferences of the Methodist Episcopal Church (1891), p.72). Daughter Susan Frances b. 1910 LA married Chapman of Beaumont, Tx. Some one misread Mattie as Wallie in indexing the 1910 census, but her name was Mattie Almeta.
Some give Laura's middle name as Lula while others say Fredrica. Her great-grandson Patrick Griffing Collier says she changed it from Laura Lula to Laura Frederica.
