William and Milley were born in Virginia. They moved to Highland County Ohio shortly after their marriage. About 1836 they moved to Indiana and stayed there for about 4 years and then moved back to Ohio, this time to Clinton County. His parents and a couple of brothers had moved to Indiana. One of his daughters, Mary Ann, married in Randolph County, Indiana and stayed.
Some sources say they had 12 children. Nine were listed in his Dec 30, 1881 Clinton County Probate Record plus the daughter of a tenth. His known children are:
