Robert, 85, a former United Brethren minister from Michigan, went to be with his Lord and Savior around 3 am on December 26, 2011.


He is survived by his wife, of 64 years, Geneva; three children, Shari (Earl) Wilson of Ithaca, MI. Debbie (Walter) Burmeister of Rothbury, and Mark (Elizabeth) Shellhouse of Jenison; nine grandchildren, Angie (Richard) Duke, Vick (Chris) Harwood, Josh (Anna) Wilson, Tiffany (Fred) West, Lynette (Brian) Bonine, Walt (Gillian) Burmeister, and Nathaniel, Andrew and Caleb Shellhouse; and 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and his step brother, Harold Thomas of Indiana.


Rev. and Mrs. Shellhouse served in the pastorate for 51 years in Michigan: at Sackrider, North Star, Ithaca, Fowlerville, Flint, and Grandville. Upon retiring, he returned to Hart and served Elbridge Community church and Mears United Methodist church.


Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was a very loving person and always made time for others, touching many lives over the years.


He also served in World War 2 from January 1944 to December 1946.


He was preceded in death by his father, Jay Shellhouse, and mother, Leona (Mitchell) Shellhouse Thomas; stepfather, Arthur Thomas; his brother, Donald Shellhouse and half-brother, Leroy Thomas.


Arrangements by Harris Funeral Home, Shelby, Mich.


The funeral service was held Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Mears United Methodist Church, MI. with Pastor Ken VanderLaan officiating. A luncheon will follow the funeral.


Memorials may be made to the Mears United Methodist Church, Mear, MI. or Banner of Christ Church, Byron Center, MI.
