Joseph F. Power, 74, 630 Avenue C, died Friday at Parkview Baptist Hospital.
Power was a pioneer Yuma County farming and mining operator. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in Co. 1, 331st Inf, AEF. He was born Oct. 2, 1889 in Seymour, Tex.
He came to Yuma in 1901 with his family who were early homesteaders in the Yuma Valley. He was involved in the construction of the first irrigation district and was influential in building the Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Gladys J. Power of the home; a son R.E. (Sonny) Power, Yuma; three daughters, Roberta Irwin and Jane Ades, Yuma, and Jo Estella Roberts, Phoenix; three brother, Ernest and Albert Power, of Yuma, and R.H. Power, San Diego; and a sister, Mrs. Edna Hightower, Yuma; and 13 grandchildren.
