James was born at Wethersfield, Hartford Co., Connecticut 14 January 1883; died there 16 March 1917, aged 34 yrs., 2 mos., 2 days, of cerebro-spinal fever lasting 11 days; was buried there next to his parents at Wethersfield Village Cemetery [Conn. St. VR, Deaths, filed 17 Mar. 1917; Wethersfield 127, Inscriptions, Cemetery 1, p. 108; The Griswold Family, Vol. 5, p. 111].

In 1900 he res. with his parents at Wethersfield and prob. helped on his father's farm [1900 U.S. Census, Conn., Hartford Co., Wethersfield, microfilm]. In 1914 he was a resident of Lonepine, Montana [Obituary of his father].

James returned to Wethersfield by 1915 where he res. on Maple St. [Hartford Suburban Dir., 1915]. James married and at the time of his death was a machinist.

His widow resided on Maple Street, Wethersfield, Conn., 1918 [Hartford Sub. Dir., 1918-19]. A Frank and Helen T. BELDEN res. on Maple Street, at Wethersfield in 1929 [Hartford Sub. Dir., 1929].
