Notice of Death:
DEATH CLAIMS HARRY J. BROWN
DUTTON COMPANY ACCOUNTANT DIES AT HOSPITAL AFTER ILLNESS OF FOUR WEEKS.
Harry J. Brown, associated with the W.M. Dutton and Sons Company for 26 years, died at the Mary Lanning Hospital at 8:20 p.m., Friday. He was 48 years old.
He collapsed at his desk about four weeks ago and had been in a critical condition since that time. It was thought a blood clot on the brain was the immediate cause of death.
Mr. Brown was born at St. Edward and later moved to Albion. He came to Hastings about thirty years ago. For three years he was associated with Blackman and Fuller, wholesale grovers (growers?), then started at the Dutton company where he has been ever since.
He is survived by his wife, Hattie, and twelve children, seven daughters and five sons. They are Neal, Wayne, Ivan, Franklin and Don J., Rhoda, Marguerite, Claudia, Norma Jane, Harriett E. and Mrs. Genevieve Baker, all of Hastings, and Mrs. Mae Cain of Elmo, Wash.. Four brothers survive him, Fred E. Brown, R.W. Brown, R. N. Brown and Albert Brown.
Mr. Brown was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Officials of the Dutton Company today paid respect to the efficiency and loyalty of their long time associate.
"He was always on the job, his work was always up to the minute and no man could have been more loyal to his firm," H.A. Lainson president of the the company said.
Mr. Brown was of a retiring mature and confined his interests to his work and his home.
Funeral services will be conducted at the First Baptist Church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon by the Rev. Roy Bennett, assisted by the Rev. H.A. Vierdroff. Burial will be at Parkview.
