The death of Mrs. Lester W. Brown occurred at the home of her son, Bert, at Petersburg, last Thursday, October 28th, following a paralytic stroke. Six years ago she suffered a stroke, but seemingly recovered, until she was stricken again the fourth of September. Since that time she has been gradually failing.
Maria Melissa Temple was born May 30th, 1847, and died October 28, 1920. She was married, May 8th, 1864, to Lester W. Brown, at Centralia, Wisconsin. To this union nine children were born, two of whom died in Wisconsin, and two at St. Edward. Those living who mourn the loss of their mother are Fred E. of Fremont; Albert L. of Petersburg; R. Wilford of Albion; Roy N. of Sutherland and Harry J. of Hastings.
June 6th, 1874, the family moved from Wisconsin to Nebraska, locating on a homestead in the vicinity of St. Edward, where they remained until 1903 when they located in Albion. Mr. Brown died about twelve years ago and was buried at St. Edward.
The funeral was held from the Albion Methodist church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. G. H. Main, and interment made at the St. Edward cemetery by the side of the husband and two little ones.
