Mrs. Elsie Turner Ammons, 55, Science Hill, died Friday, August 7, at Lake Cumberland Medical Center following a six-month illness.

She was a retired employee of the Ira A. Watson Company.

The daughter of the late Bessie and James Thomas Whitaker, she was born September 29, 1925, in Brown County, Indiana.

She was married February 20, 1980, to Earl O. Ammons who survives.

Other survivors are a son, Robert Wayne Turner, Lexington; three brothers, William Sherrill Whitaker, San Diego, California, Dorwin E. and Hershal R. Whitaker, both of Somerset; two sisters, Dorothy Ella Perkins, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Melba Ruth Norfleet, Louisville; six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

A son, Donald C. Turner, and a brother, Murrell Eugene Whitaker, preceded her in death.

Services were Sunday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Butt officiating.

Burial was in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
