Hattie Sexton Sexton,83, of the Brimstone community, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 20, 1984, at the Scott County Hospital following a lingering illness. Mrs Sexton was the daughter of the late Sherman Sexton and Mary Ann Hicks Sexton and also preceded in death by her husband, John Riley Sexton; three daughters:Shirley jean Reed, Mary Sexton, and Betty Jean Sexton; three sons: Joseph David Sexton, Lloyd Arnold Sexton, and Floyd Elmer Sexton; one sister Ida Beets; three brothers: Clem, Floyd and Willard Sexton; three granddaughters: Deborah Lynn Sexton, jean Helen Sexton, and bernice Keeton; two grandsons: Lawrence Sexton, and Robert Hughett; and one great-granddaughter, Kimberly Sue Jeffers. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by five daughters: Mrs Carlie( Artie Mae) Hughett and Mrs Carlos(Hazel) Mills, both of the Brimstone community, Mrs R C (Elsie Lee) Hamby of Harriman, Mrs Ernest (Dallas Rose) Newport of Helenwood, and Mrs Robert(Judy Ann) Tilberry of Indianapolis, Ind.; five sons: L C Sexton and Philmore Sexton , both of Pine Bluff, Ark., John Riley Sexton,Jr, James Eddie Sexton, Billy Doris Sexton, all of Indianapolis, Ind.; four sisters: Eva York of Clinton, Della Osben of Kentucky, Larla Sexton of Huntsville,and Etta York of Texas; one brother, Cas Sexton of the brimstone community; 50 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Friday, March 23, at the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Mike Smithers, and Rev. Chuck Duncan officiating. [Burial followed in the] Todd Cemetery in the Wolf Creek community. The family will receive friends at 6 pm Thursday (today) at the West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel.
