Henry L Andrews, prominent business man and civic leader of Houlka, died early Saturday morning at his home following a sudden heart attack. He was 47 years old.
A native of Houlka, Mr. Andrews was a son of Mrs. W H Andrews and the late Mr. Andrews.
While he had practically retired from active business since five years ago because of ill health, he had not been confined to his bed. His death occurred shortly after his wife left for her place of business after being assured by him that he was feeling all right, and came as a distinct shock to the entire community.
Mr. Andrews was appreciated for his many acts of charity and more especially for his thoughtfulness and kindness to those shut in or otherwise unfortunate. Only a week before he died he made it possible for a mother to visit her child in a Memphis hospital. Of a retiring nature, he never sought publicity or credit for his many deeds of love.
The funeral service was held at the late residence Sunday morning, with the Rev. E M Shaw, of Longview, officiating, assisted by the Rev. S P Ashmore and the Rev. S P Andrews. Burial followed in the Williams Cemetery.
Besides his mother and his wife, who was formerly Miss Bell McClain, he leaves three brothers, W F, J D, and Leroy Andrews, and one sister, Mrs. S G Bullard, of Houlka.
