She was born May 2, 1921 in Dulce, Rio Arriba County, New Mexico, the daughter of Dawson Sydney "DS" and Bertha Alice (Burrows) Guillet. She married Leonard Elbert Thurman in Colfax, Louisiana on September 14, 1941. He predeceased her in 1999. She was also predeceased by her parents; infant granddaughter; 4 sisters, Jewel Collins, Sybil Marie Guillet, Dorothy "Jean" Calhoun, and Violet Crouch; 2 brothers, Sidney James Guillet and Charles Ray Guillet. She is survived by her children, Eddie Leon (Brigitte) Thurman of Boerne, Texas, Donna June (Roy) Farley of Tempe, Arizona, Beverly Ann (John) Walters of Hickroy Corners, Michigan, Kenneth Dale (Florinda) Thurman of Dawsonville, Georgia and Guy Bardo (Christine) Thurman of Bellevue, Michigan; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Ortego and sister-in-law, Gladys Daniels.
She grew up and attended school in Oklahoma and Texas. She was a wonderful mother and wife. She enjoyed caring for her family and was known as an outstanding homemaker and cook. Her "Bonnie Battle" biscuits and tomato gravy were famous throughout the family.
