Benedict, Mary Catharine
Mary Catharine Benedict, age 80, of 6194 Bikle Road, Chambersburg, died Sunday, May 7, 2006 at her home in Guilford Township. She and her husband Paul D. Benedict were married on March 28, 1948.
Born June 5, 1925 in Clemmons, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Carl and Lucy Jamison Beckner. She was a homemaker and a member of the Falling Spring Old German Baptist Brethren Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband Paul is her stepmother, Rosa Beckner of Roanoke, Va.; six sons, Lloyd B. and wife Doris of Chambersburg, Dennis D. and wife Linda of Arcanum, Ohio, Clinton W. and wife Ruth Ann of Chambersburg, Galen A. and wife Fern of Chambersburg, Omar L. and wife Loraine and Alvin R. and wife Jeanne all of Chambersburg. She is also survived by a sister Orpha Benedict of Chambersburg, brothers Everett Beckner of Winston Salem, NC, Frank Beckner of Waynesboro, Henry Lee Beckner of Chambersburg, Cleo Beckner of Clemmons NC, and a stepbrother Norris Bryant of Roanoke, Va.; 24 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren and a stepbrother.
Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 10 a.m. in the Falling Spring Old German Baptist Meeting House with The Home Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends may call at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc. 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, Pa. on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the Meeting House. The family requests the omission of flowers
