Husband of Annie nee Vero Alderson. Son of Thomas Alderson and Jane nee Parker. In 1876 William married Annie Vero and to this union were born eighteen children. William Alderson was a farmer all his life and for the past thirty years has resided on his present place. The large old stagecoach inn (Five Mile House) housed this growing family until 1904, when William built the yellow brick house at 959 Washington Road, just a few feet from the old inn, The inn mysteriously burned down in 1927! Civic activities and responsibilities was the fabric of William's life. For twenty-seven years he served as School Director of Scott Township; at one time loaning money to the township so that the teachers could be paid. He was Road Supervisor and Tax Collector for many years. William Alderson is a democrat, has held many positions of trust in Scott township, and has served as school director for several years, giving entire satisfaction. The site of the Mount Lebanon High School and part of the Mount Lebanon Park comprises some of Mr. Alderson's several farms, these properties were taken by eminent domain. Mount Lebanon was a fledgling township of six years when William died in 1918. His eighty-one years had been identified with and devoted to the progress of this township.
