David and Stella's daughter Hazel had married Ernest E. Roahrig on 21 Jun 1916 in Marshall County, and David and Stella welcomed grandson Olen S. in 1917.
Sadly, David died the year before the 1930 enumeration in 1929 when he was 57 years old. Tragedy struck again in 1931 when Stella also had to endure the death of 14-year-old daughter Olga Pearl.
