Oliver Bishop married SARAH JANE COURTWRIGHT on April 4, 1846, Harrison County. The family resided in Rumley Twp, Harrison County, in 1850 and 1860;

By 1870 they had moved to Wilkesville.
Oliver and Sarah Jane were the parents of six sons and one daughter: JOHN ALEXANDER, b 1852; HIRAM HARVEY, b 1853; JAMES MAYWOOD, b 1856; SILAS D, b 1859; ARTLISSA, b 1862; GEORGE McCLELLAND, b 1864; and ALLEN T, b 1867.

Their youngest son, Allen, married Nola M. Johnson; they lived their lives in Nelsonville, parents of three sons.

Their second oldest son, Hiram Harvey, married Estaline Russell, born 1864, Gallia Co, in 1883, Gallia Co. Hiram, Estaline, & their son, Emmett, b 1884 Rumley, Harrison Co, lived their lives in Rumley & New Bowerstown. Hiram H. & Estaline are buried at New Rumley Cemetery, Harrison Co.

Four of their sons, John Alexander, James Maywood, Silas D, and George McClelland, made their homes in Wilkesville.

Their only daughter, Artlissa, died after the birth of her son, FERNANDO DELANEY, son of Artlissa & Edward Delaney, born Ireland.
