Wilma was born in the large family home of her Grandfather William Hunter four miles west of St. Anthony, Idaho. Two years later another daughter, Phyllis, was born. These two little sisters became known as "the little ones" and were always the closest of sisters and best of friends all their lives. They were the two youngest of seven, six daughters and one son.

In 1931 the family moved to Idaho Falls. Wilma had her first job in the business world at 13 helping her sister Elna in the office of a furniture company. Over the years the six Hunter sisters developed their business skills and were sought after by businessmen in the community.

After Wilma graduated from Idaho Falls High School she entered Brigham Young University working part-time as a stenographer in the college bookstore. Following graduation Wilma worked as secretary to Dr. Henry Eyring, then Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Utah. While she she working there she met a young dentist, Dr. Theodore C Bennion. They were married September 1, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple.

They lived first in Moab and then in Pleasant Grove. Ted was recalled to the Service and they spent two years in San Diego. As Wilma and Ted started their family, Wilma began having health problems. There were complications from a thyroid surgery and heart problems. Still, she trusted in her Heavenly Father and followed the commitment she and Ted had made to bring children into the world. The family grew to two sons and nine daughters. And she loved. "Love you" was more than a common phrase. She loved her family and taught her children to love and pray and trust the Lord.

Finally the heart problems claimed her and Wilma left this life to go to another at the age of 55.

From a life sketch given at Wilma's funeral and a tribute by her daughter, Carolyn.
