Carl was born in the village of Conestoga in Woolwich Twp in 1878. His parents were Henry Dahmer (1835-1915) and Elizabeth Hess (1848-1923).

He married Augusta E. Schedler on March 19, 1902 in Berlin (Kitchener), Waterloo County.

They raised 5 children;
1. Ayton 1902-1975.
2. Edna 1904-1977.
3. Harvey 1906-1957.
4. Violet 1908-1993.
5. Bernice (unknown).

Carl passed away in his 89th year.
