Arnold Charles Barney, age 81, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo following a courageous battle with pneumonia.

Arnold was born May 12, 1926 in Provo, Utah to Charles William and Josephine Bergetta Carlson Barney. He married DawnNita Hiatt on November 25, 1943 in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he also served his country in the Philippines during World War II. He was deeply patriotic, and got his greatest joy from his family.

He is survived by one son, Dennis Arnold (Robyn) Barney of Roy; and three daughters: Suzanne (Ed) Jenkins of Provo; Janet Johnson of Provo; and Anita (Vince) Stansfield of Alpine, Utah. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Juan, Kate, Irene, and Eleanor. He was preceded in death by his wife, DawnNita, and his son, Nathan Barney of Provo; four brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary Wednesday, March 19, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday morning one hour prior to service. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
