Jerry died in an automobile accident. He was a passenger in a truck, driven by another young man, when a train hit their vehicle. He was initially buried at Crawford Cemetery in Anderson County, TX where his grandparents lived. His body was subsequently removed from Crawford Cemetery and buried in Calcasieu Parish where his parents lived.
