Multiple descendants from Samuel's sons that lived in Carroll County have indicated Samuel is buried in this cemetery, but thus far no stone has been found. Letters survive that Samuel wrote to his 3rd wife, Martha, in July 1881 from Eureka Springs. Samuel was ill at the time. Samuel and many others flocked to Eureka Springs for the treatment in the "healing" powers advertised from the spring water. Mortality rates in Eureka Springs must have been extremely high for that time period.
