George Boyd Orr (son of John Adams Orr and Frances Scroggs), was born Dec 1876 in Lawrence County, MO and died in 1965. He married Lucy S. Bowers, who was born in 1875 in McConnelsburg, PA and died 17 Feb 1963. On 9 Mar 1963 he married Mary Gertie Atwater in Kansas City. (Her first husband was B. Luther Turk, and she is with him in Ozark Prairie Cemetery in Lawrence County, MO.) She was born 1 May 1877 in Mount Vernon and died 19 Nov 1968 in Springfield, MO. George's name is on many family death certificates as the person who took custody of a person's remains. George worked some as an undertaker, as furniture makers often made coffins. A cousin preserved an envelope from George's business, which read "Orr and Company: Furniture and Undertaking, Mount Vernon, MO." George Boyd Orr was also the first president of the Orr Reunion Association of Mount Vernon, taking office in 1937.
