Betty Elizabeth Hooper, 77, of Westminster, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at the Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center after an extended illness.
Born Feb. 9, 1928, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Sterling and Florence Strine Ecker. She was the wife of Fred T. Hooper, her husband of 59 years.
She was a 1945 graduate of New Windsor High School. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, New Windsor, and had been a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the New Windsor volunteer fire company. She had been employed with SERRV at the Brethren Service Center, New Windsor, for 17 years.
She enjoyed reading, traveling and listening to country music.
Surviving are daughter Janet Petersen and husband Sam of DePere, Wis.; sons, and daughters-in-law Richard and Gail Hooper of New Windsor, Dale and Carolyn Hooper of Mt. Airy, Gary and Dawn Hooper of Ivor, Va., and Jeff and Johnnie Hooper of Westminster; brothers Charles Ecker of New Windsor and Herbert Ecker of Taneytown; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by granddaughter Susan I Hooper, sister Catherine Grabill and brother S. Ray Ecker.
