Mrs. Catherine Larue Grabill, 81, of 2100 Whittier Drive, Frederick, formerly of New Windsor, died Saturday, May 10, at Somerford Place, Frederick.

She was the wife of James Granville Luther Grabill, who died in 1997.

Born Jan. 16, 1922, in New Windsor, she was the daughter of the late Sterling and Florence Strine Ecker.

Mrs. Grabill was a 1939 graduate of New Windsor High School.

She was formerly employed by H.L. Hartz, Union Bridge.

Mrs. Grabill was a member of Pipe Creek Church of the Brethren and an active member of the ladies auxiliary of New Windsor Fire Co.

Until her recent illness, she was an avid gardener and enjoyed handcrafts.

Surviving are one daughter, Patricia Kontz of New Windsor; one son, Eugene Grabill and wife Linda of New Windsor; one sister, Betty Hooper of Westminster; two brothers, Charles Ecker of New Windsor, and Herbert Ecker of Taneytown; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Mrs. Grabill was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Hal W. Kontz; and one brother, Ray Ecker.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor. Members of New Windsor Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary will conduct memorial services at 8:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 15, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles H. Acker Jr., pastor of Johnsville United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Pipe Creek Cemetery, near Linwood.
