Ronald Timothy Blagg, age 64 of 3271 Williamson Road, Greencastle, Pa. died unexpectedly Friday morning June 5, 2009 at his home.
Born March 7, 1945 in Danville, Illinois, he was the son of the late Donell and Bettye June (Baker) Blagg.
Mr. Blagg was a retired U.S. Army Master Sgt. having served over 20 years in communications-electronics maintenance. He served two tours in Vietnam and was last stationed at Fort Ritchie. He was last employed at Signal Solutions of Frederick, Md. having retired in March 2009.
He was a graduate of Georgetown High School, Georgetown IL.
Mr. Blagg was a member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 of Greencastle. He enjoyed fishing, collecting large scale trains, Garden Railroading and was a member of the Large Scale Railroad Club.
He and his wife, Joan M. Blagg were married September 1, 1984.
Surviving family in addition to his wife are three sons, Eric L. Blagg, Waynesboro, James A. Blagg, Chambersburg and Marc O. Blagg, Greencastle, three stepchildren Deborah Moore, Greencastle, Michael Shaeffer, Vandergrift, Pa., Steven Shaeffer, Greencastle, half-sister, Tammy White and half-brother, Mike Blagg both of Georgetown, IL., step-mother Mildred Blagg, Georgetown, IL., ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday June 10 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home where the Greencastle V.F.W. will hold a memorial service at 7:30 P.M.
