Bro Matthews was born September 15th 1861. He was the son of M.T. & Rebecca Matthews. He joined the Missionary Baptist church of Daleville Ala was baptized by Rev. P.M. Calloway Jr. Was one of the charter members of Shiloh church and a devoted member. Always ready to do any duty to advance the cause of his master. God called him home on March 15th 1918 and was buried at Shiloh the following day. Among sorrowing relatives and friends service conducted by his pastor Rev. C.W. Monk. He left a wife and one son together with a number of relatives. He will be greatly missed in his home, his church, and community.
