Zebulon was the son of Richard ESTEY and Ruth FISKE and great grandson of Mary Towne Estey , one of the victims of the Salem Witch Trials and her husband Isaac Estey Sr. .

Zebulon was born Dec. 14, 1742 in Rowley, Mass. He married Mary (Molly) BROWN on 8 Aug 1765 in Newburyport, MA. They made their home in Rowley, Mass until 1764 when they relocated to Maugerville, a settlement on the St John's River in New Brunswick Canada. He was one of the signers of the original covenant of the Congressional Church. They had 10 children; Mary (Molly) Estey, Susanna Estey, Nehemiah Brown Estey, Elizabeth Estey, Dorothy (Dolly) Estey, Ruth Fiske Estey, Zebulon Estey, Lucy Estey, Thomas Estey, Phoebe Estey. Zebulon died, Oct. 17, 1806, with his death noticed published the next day:

10 SEP 1894 The Daily Telegraph, St John Co, NB: "St. John River, June 30th, 1783 - Return of Inhabitants of River St. John settled on lands commonly known as Gage Town: Zebulon Esty has a wife and 8 children. He has been on about 5 years, built a house and grist mill and has about 3 acres of cleared land. Went on in consequence of an agreement with John Crabtree acting as attorner for Capt. Jades and was promised a lease forever on payment of a small acknowledgement yearly. Said Esty is a good man, his character very loyal and we beg leave to recommend him to be confirmed in his possessions; Thomas Hart has a wife and 7 children. Has been on about 8 years. Came by purchase from Zebulon Easty and Hezekiah Whitmore, who held a lease from William Spry, Esq. dated Nov. 11th, 1770 for two lots of 40 rods wide each. There is on said lots two houses and about 30 acres of cleared land."

"Parish of Gagetown, Queens County, Blacksmith. Will dated 8 September 1806, proved 1 November 1806. Wife Molley use of two rooms in my house, all household furniture and the profits of one third of my land and stock. Son Nehemiah 10 shillings as I have given him "two hundred and fifty Acres of Land in Queen's borough, and part of a Lot of Land in Sheffield and the benefit of a Trade and Tools." Son Zebulon £50 in a sloop. To his sons Samuel and Hollon ESTEY £5 each or one cow when they reach age fourteen. Son Thomas the other two thirds of my land and stock, together with his mother's third at her decease, and my blacksmith tools, he paying his sisters the sums I shall hereafter mention. Each of my daughters £40 including what they had at their Marriage and since, a true statement may be found of what they have had and what remains to be paid in a sheet annexed to this will. Son Thomas ESTEY and David CURRIE executors. Witnesses: John CLARK, Silvanus PLUMER, Elijah ESTABROOK. Attachment to the will lists balances to Molley ESTEY, who married Amos ESTEY, £7 12s. 6d.; Susannah ESTEY, who married Nat.
