Viola, 94, passed away on Tuesday. She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Luckenbach) Blundy.
Viola loved life, her family, she loved playing dominoes and cards, and she loved camping, especially the Halloween campouts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; all her siblings; husband, Robert Thelen in 1976; son, David Thelen in 1975; grandson, Brian Thelen in 1968; son-in-law, David Martin in 1999; daughter-in-law, Patricia Thelen in 2009.
Surviving are her children, Janice Getzen of East Lansing, Robert James (Arlene) Thelen of Portland, Marlene (Wayne) Dick of Lyons, Judy Martin of Portland, Donald Thelen of Portland, Mary Baker of Marshall, Wayne (Deborah) Thelen of Portland and Gail (Richard) Hill of Lenox; 30 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; special friend at Hospice, Layne.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated
Saturday, November 19, 2011 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland, with Rev. Larry King presiding. The Rosary was prayed and Scriptural Wake Service was held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sparrow Hospice Services or St. Patrick Boiler Fund, in memory of Viola.
