"Vera M. Hoover, age 92, of Ionia and formerly of Portland, passed away on Thurs., Mar. 10, 2005.
She was born on September 11, 1912 in Westphalia the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Luckenbach) Blundy.
Mrs. Hoover was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Portland and SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ionia. She was a founding member of the Red Hat Society in Ionia.
Along with her husband, Frank, she owned and operated four restaurants in Portland at St. Johns.
Vera enjoyed being with her family, playing cards and bingo, and was active with the Ionia Co. Commission on Aging.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, daughters Norma Jean and Patricia Gilbert, brothers Albert, Norman, Leonard, and Edward Blundy, sisters Pauline Belen, Laura Kennedy and Dorothy Bishop.
The mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tues., Mar. 15, 2005 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Portland with Rev. Larry King presiding.
Rite of Committal will be in Portland Cemetery in the spring.
Complete arrangements were handled by Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home.
