"Edward Lee Heliker, 58, of Spartansburg, RD 2, died early Sunday morning, Nov 27, 1983, at the home of his sister, Mrs David (Kathryn) Pring of Waterford. Mr Heliker was born in Spartansburg, Dec 29, 1924, a son of the late Martin and Cora Baney Heliker. He was raised and educated in Spartansburg and attended Spartansburg High School. He was employed by Vosburg Farms and later at the Ajax Iron Works of Corry. He was a veteran of the US Army where he attained the rank of corporal. He served during the Korean Conflict. Mr Heliker worked as a molder for the last 24 years at Ajax Iron Works of Corry. He married the former Elizabeth Watson in 1957. She died in 1973. He was a member of the VFW Post 264 of Corry; the American Legion Post No 365 of Corry; and the Corry Central Labor Union Club. His parents, his wife, and two brothers, Milton C Heliker and Martin Heliker Jr, died previously. He is survived by three step-daughters, Mrs George (Linda) Apthorp of Spartansburg, RD 2, Mrs John (June) Slovey of Spartansburg, RD 2, and Mrs Gene (Jeannetta) Vanluven of Erie; ten step-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs Fred (Maxine) Morris of Centerville, Mrs Enza Terrill and Mrs Cleo Woodward of Erie, and Mrs David (Kathryn) Pring of Waterford. Friends may call at the Spartansburg branch of the Bracken Funeral Home...and attend the funeral service there Wednesday at 2 pm with Rev Norwood B Futrell, pastor of the Christian Missionary and Alliance Church of Spartansburg, officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Spartansburg."
