1857 - 1938
Benjamin Morgan Roberts [Jr.], 80, successful farmer and well known Provoan, passed away at the home of a son, Frank Roberts of Hollywood, Cal., Tuesday evening, after a week's illness which followed a heart attack.
Mr. Roberts had, as in past years since his retirement, been spending the winter months with his children on the coast. When notified of his sudden illness, members of his family from Provo rushed to Hollywood and were with him when the end came.
The body will be brought to Provo and all of his 12 children will be here for the services, arrangements for which are being made by the Berg Mortuary.
Mr. Roberts was born August 12, 1857, at Fort Bridger, Wyo., a son of Benjamin and Mary Bullock Roberts. He came to Provo with his parents as a child, and when but 12 years of age, accompanied his father on an LDS mission to the Muddy. Later, he engaged in farming, at which he became successful. He was one of the oldest members of the I.O.O.F Lodge.
His wife, Sarah Ann Milner, died in 1915, and of their 15 children, 12 survived as follows: Charles M., Lynn, Mark, Elmer, Boyd and J. Max Roberts, Mrs. Hazel R. Lewis, Mrs. Edith Maxfield of Provo; Milton Roberts, Mrs. Belle R. Simmett [Sinnott] and Mrs. Ruth Boyd of Los Angeles, Cal.; Frank Roberts of Hollywood; 34 grandchildren; a brother, Sam Roberts of Los Angeles, Cal., and a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Carter of Newport Beach, Cal.
