Alvin J. Lautenbach, 60, well-known proprietor of the Lyceum Hall at Plymouth the former state officer of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, was found dead early this morning. His body was found hanging in the basement of the Lyceum hall by William Schaefer, an employe at the tavern at 1:05 a.m.
Mr. Lautenbach had been chronically ill for about one year according to information received from relatives. He was last seen alive at 11 p.m. by a sister, and Coroner James Hildebrand indicated that he may have been dead for about an hour before his body was found.
He was born in Plymouth on March 19, 1888, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lautenbach. He attended Plymouth schools and on June 24, 1915, was married to Miss Leta Fischer.
Mr. Lautenbach was well known throughout the community as manager of the Lyceum hall and an active member of several fraternal organizations. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Ludwig-Zinkgraf Post No. 243 of the American Legion. He was also affiliated with the 40 et 8 organization and the Hub City aerie No. 1312 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Charles Lautenbach; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Gehrke, Ripon; three sisters, Misses Elsie and Edna, at home and Miss Ilma of Jackson, Mich.; one brother, Walter Lautenbach of Milwaukee. His father died on June 8, 1927.
Funeral services will be held at Wittkopp Funeral Home at Plymouth, with burial in the Union Cemtery.
