History of Callaway County:

Emil Schmid and Minnie Vandeloecht were married October 24, 1906 at Portland, Missouri.

Emil was born October 14, 1880, in Bern, Switzerland, the second child of Anton and Anna (Reuden) Schmid, both born in Bern, Switzerland.

Emil came to America as an infant and stayed in the Mokane, Missouri area, working first on the railroad and then and later as a farmer.

Emil and Minnie had eight children, Harry (Edith) Schmid, Gladys (Marshall) Jones, Howard who died in infancy, Helen (Fay) Tennyson, Ruth (C.B.) Howell, Mabel, also died in infancy, Nellie (Russell) Laube and Delbert, who was killed in action during World War 11 on July 3, 1944.

Emil Schmid, age 71, of Mokane, Missouri died March 6, 1951 at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Dr. Earl L. Lloyd diagnosed death caused by Arteriosclerotic Heart Disease. Informant was Minnie Schmid, wife of the deceased.

Emil was born August 14, 1880, in Bern, Switzerland, the son of Anton and Anna (Hoffman) Schmid, also born in Switzerland. He married Minnie Vandeloecht, who survives of the home. Emil was retired.

Arrangements were under the direction of Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with burial in Mokane Cemetary.
