In 1850, when Elizabeth was about 15 years old, she traveled with her parents and seven siblings to Illinois and where her father secured government land in Chestnut township.
Elizabeth married Henry Davis on November 14, 1858 in Knox County, Illinois. Henry was a farmer and also had a blacksmith shop and repaired wagons. They had 13 children:
