According to census records, George Washington and Clarissa Chillson were already living in Riley in 1840.

In the 1850 census, George Washington was 37 and Clarissa was 30. In the household with them were Alphonzo (14), Angeline (12), Esther (8), Albina (6), Abigail Stone (50) (mother of George W. Chillson) and Anna (22).

In 1860, the Chillson household consisted of George, Clarissa, Alphonzo (23) an ambrotype artist, Angeline M. (21) a servant, Esther L.(17) a servant, Seward H.(9), Armanta(6), Macelia M.(4), Elvena (3) and Michael Cribbins (20) a farm laborer.

By 1900, George Washington was living with his daughter Minta and son-in-law Harmon Kenyon. In Michigan, Death Records 1897 - 1920, it states that George died in Riley, Macomb County, Michigan at the age of 89 on January 3, 1903.
