Abigail's father, Jacob, and her grandfather, William Lockwood, both fought in the American Revolution. She married Waters Chillson (II) on 17 February, 1807. Abigail and Waters moved from Windsor County, Vermont, and moved to Chilson Hill (Ticonderoga area), Essex County, New York. At some point after Waters died, Abigail left Chilson, probably with her son, George Washington Chillson, and moved west to Memphis, Michigan.

Waters and Abigail had the following children: Waters Sherman (III), Hiram Jacob, Calvin Christopher Columbus, George Washington, Luke Wellington, Angeline Burlingame, Philip Doderidge, Esther Luna, Charles Nichols, Luthania Charlotte, Leonard Largain, William Deal, Dewitt Clinton, King Ahasuerus, Lorenzo Dow, and Cynthia Abigail.

In the 1840's, Abigail moved west with her son George Washington Chillson and his wife Clarissa (Moore) Chillson and their son Alphonzo.
