Jamesl. l. "Buck" Atkinson, 75, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center. He was born on March 4, 1936 in White Plains, KY to Charles Edgar and Cynthia Cordie (Geary) Atkinson.

Buck was a retired pipefitter at Ford Motor Co., with 27 years service. He was member of Ridgewood Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the F.O.P.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Aaron C. Atkinson; three brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Hazel R. (Bond) Atkinson; his children, Michael "Mickey" Atkinson, Heather Faye Atkinson, Rita Faye Thompson (Virgil) and Anita Jo Atkinson; three grandchildren, Melody and Cody Thompson and Jayden Atkinson; two sisters, Nancy Miller (Charles) and Milbra Long. Buck was a loving Husband and a Great Dad and Papaw...

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., with burial in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, 2 - 9 p.m. and Friday, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Published in The Courier-Journal on November 10, 2011.
