Juan Ernesto "Ernest" Espinosa, age 70, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2011. He fought a long battle with numerous medical conditions. Ernest was born on May 3, 1941, to Juan G. Espinosa and Adela Flores. Ernest was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He had a wonderful life filled with many friends and family. He spent his early childhood years growing up in Vaughn NM, where he loved track and playing football. Upon finishing high school, he served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964 where he painted aircraft.

From an early age, Ernest enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and being out in the wilder-
ness with family and friends. Ernest was a very kind and warm-hearted man who was willing to help people in any way he could without expecting anything in return. Ernest loved to spend time with each one of his grandchildren. He especially liked to go see his two oldest grandsons play football together on Friday nights under the lights for Santa Fe High. You would find Ernest having his morning coffee daily at his buddy, Lalo's, and he also loved to eat saltine crackers with the four younger ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents Juan G. Espinosa and Adela Flores Espinosa; step-mother Cleo Espinosa; sisters Irene Griego and husband Alex Griego, Frances Sisneros, and Elizabeth Espinosa; brother Gilbert Espinosa; brothers-in-law Edward Perea and Lawrence Lujan; father- and mother-in-law Ralph and Ruby Ortiz; sister-in-law Margarita "Margie" Martinez; and special friend Tony Montano.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Mary Helen "Nena" Espinosa; sons Rick and Raymond Espinosa; grandsons Andres, Estevan, Joshua, Ricardo, Jr., Jeremiah; his only granddaughter Emily; siblings Pete Espinosa of San Antonio NM, Anita Perea of Santa Fe NM, Eddie and wife Esther Espinosa of Ruidoso NM; brothers Johnny and wife Patsy Espinosa of Rio Rancho NM, Paul and wife Patty Espinosa of Roswell NM, Raymie and husband Robert Hernandez of Albuquerque NM, Eliseo Espinosa of Springer NM, Robert Espinosa of Albuquerque; sisters-in-law Patricia Espinosa of California, Tillie Montoya, Sophie Gonzales, Marina Benavidez of Albuquerque NM, and Lorrie Lujan, and Josie Griego and husband Raul of Santa Fe; brothers-in-law Ralph Ortiz and wife Josie of Santa Fe, Benny Ortiz and wife Josie of California, and Melecio Martinez of Santa Fe; special friend Lalo Salazar; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, friends.
