Ivan Ray Crandall, age 67, SMG United States Army Ret., son of Clair and Nora Crandall, went to join his Heavenly Family on January 20, 1999. Ivan was born on February 8, 1931 at home in Bitely, MI. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Ethelyn Wright, Irene Booher and Ruth Cowley and his devoted wife of 33 years, Shirley Ann Crandall and his son, Mitchell Ray Crandall. Ivan is survived by his four sisters, Mary Ellen Clarkson, Gladys Tinkam and Eleanor Rose, all of Michigan and Arviall Kuck of Phoenix, AZ. Ivan is survived by three daughters, Geraldine Ann Crandall of Phoenix and her partner, Steve Lucero, Lynn Ann Pincumbe and her husband, William of Albuquerque and Iva Rae Crandall and her husband, James, of New Jersey. Ivan was a wonderful grandfather to Dana Rae Lopez, Danny Lopez Jr., Janna Chenault, Michelle Pincumbe, Jimmy Crandall, Kevin Crandall and John Crandall. Ivan was also a great-grandfather to Brittany Lopez and Gabriel Chavez. Ivan served his country with honor during the Berlin crisis, Korean War and two tours in Vietnam. Ivan retired in 1972 from Sandia Army Base in Albuquerque. Ivan was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Rifle Association, Chapter of MENSA, Menzia, and was active in the 3rd squaron of the 4th Calvary Chapter and the 25th Infantry Division Association reunions. Ivan was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and RVNCM. A funeral service will be held at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 1999 with Rev. Fred Gurule of Temple Baptist Church, officiating. Rev. 21:6 and 7-- And he said uunto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. Ivan that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. Special thanks to Lovelace Oncology staff, Dr. Binder, Dr. Tarnowner and Dr. Weiler, chemo nurses, and fourth floor south nursing staff. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vietnam Veteran's Association.
