Eleanor L. Rose, age 81 of Hesperia, passed away Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont following a lingering illness. Eleanor was born on August 13, 1936 in Bitely to Clair and Nora (Batchelder) Crandall and has been a lifelong resident of the Hesperia area. Eleanor had been a production worker at Howmet in Whitehall for many years and enjoyed playing yahtzee, feeding the birds, gaming and her dogs.

Eleanor is survived by her children, Charles “Charlie” (Cheryl) Rose of Hesperia; Debra R. (Kevin) Whelchel of Bitely; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Eleanor was preceded in death by her grandson, Chad Figueroa; her sisters and brother, Gladys Tinkham, Arvilla Kuck, Irene Booher, Ivan Crandall, Ruth Cowley, Ethlyn Wright and Mary Ellen Clarkson.

Following her wishes, cremation has taken place and graveside services will be held at the Curtice Cemetery in Home Township, Newaygo County in the spring of 2018. Friends may consider memorial contributions to Patient Activity Fund at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility.
