Requiem mass for Bert T. Grout, 79, of 1035 NW 35, will be at 9:30 am Tuesday in Our Lady's Cathedral. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under direction of Smith & Kernke Funeral Home. Grout, a retired insurance adjuster, died Sunday of cancer.
He was born in McGregor County, Iowa, and came to Oklahoma with his parents during the land run of 1889. A member of Our Lady's Cathedral, Grout was the first secretary of the American Federation of Musicians local here. He belonged to the Eagles and the Blue Goose, professional organizations.
Grant is survived by three daughters, Pauline and Jenny Grout, both of the home; and Mrs C. A. Rockwood, 1805 Gatewood; five sons, James Grout, 5200? N. Hudson; Dick Grout, Downers Grove, IL; Herber Grout Jr, 5501 N. Harmon; Dr Jack Grout, Columbus, OH; and Raymond Grout, Chicago, IL. He also leaves a sister, Mrs Marie Degreaux, New York City; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
