Kenneth was the second of four children {two sons & two daughters} born to Daniel A. & Elizabeth (Minnerath) Schlecht.
Kenneth served as a Gunnersmate in the US Navy (1940-1946) aboard the USS Craven (DD-382); he served in at least 20 different operations including the Battle at Midway.
On March 24, 1945, he married Vivian Berry in Washington, DC; he was age 21, she was 22. Born 1 December 1922 in Washington, DC; she was the youngest of four children born to E. Raymond & Elizabeth B. (Butler) Berry.
