Samuel Henderson Lewis was the youngest child of Russell and Delilah Moore Lewis. Born in 1848 in the Mountain Creek area of Warren Co., Tennessee, near the town of Dibrell, TN.
He was married to Martha E. Jane Webb on 8 Sept 1874 in Warren Co., TN, by H.H. Edge J.P. They had six children , all boys born in Warren Co., TN. Charles 'Charley', b. 16 June 1875, Loylter, b. 24 March, 1876, Norman, b. March 1879, Emmett Edward, b. 24 February 1881, Ari(Ira), March of 1883, and Corbin J., born 1886. In the 1880 Census, it records that Samuel H. Lewis can read and write and that he is listed as crippled and disabled. It is unknown what his medical condition was, but the 19th of August 1889 he passed away. It is unknown where in Warren Co., he was buried. His widow, Martha E. Jane Webb Lewis, remarried in 1891 and all the family moved to Falls Co., Texas, then settling into McLennan Co., Texas area around 1893.
