Thomas C. Lewis served in the 35th Regiment,Company "A", Tennessee Infantry (5th Infantry), (1st Mountain Rifle Regiment), along with 4 of his brothers.
Thomas C. first married at 19 years of age, after the Civil War, to Pantheon Annette Holder, who wasn't quite 16 years old. She was the daughter of Jonathan and Cynthia McSpaddin Holder of Warren Co., TN. Thomas C. and P.Annette Lewis lived near his mother, Delilah Moore Lewis, and worked the farm in the Mountain Creek area of Warren Co.,TN. Thomas and Annette had four known children before she died 9 April 1878.They were, Oregon b. 1869, Samuel b. 1872, Amanda b. 1874 and Cynthia Lewis b.1877.
Thomas C. remarried on 30 March 1879, to Lavina White, the daughter of Elijah and Sarah Jane Martin White who was also from Warren Co., TN.
Thomas and Lavina had five more children in Warren Co., TN, before they moved to Mooreville, Falls Co., Texas in the early 1890's.They were William L. b. 1880, Mary D. b.1882, twins, Claud and Maud b. 1884 and Albert b.1887. In 1894 they were living near Waco, McLennan Co., Texas, and then in 1897, Thomas C. Lewis and family moved to the East area of Jones Co., Texas, in an area known as the Nugent community. They remained in the Hawley, Jones Co., Texas area the rest of their lifes.
