Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Anderson, 87, of Arthur, were at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Arthur Evangelical Free Church. Mrs. Anderson died Thursday, 20 January 1983, at the Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove after a few days illness.

The former Hazel Ruth Victoria Bergman was born 26 July 1895 at Norway, Michigan to the Rev. Herman and Alma Bergman. The family later moved to Aitkin, Minnesota. Following the death of Mrs. Bergman, Hazel went to Boston, Mass. where she lived for a year with her aunt and family. When her father remarried in 1903, Hazel returned to Minnesota where she lived with her parents in Cloquet, Deerwood, Rush Point, and at Trade lake, Wis. She moved to the area south of Arthur in 1911 when her father became the pastor of the arthur Baptist Church. He passed away in 1914.

She married Reuben Anderson 2 July 1914 at Chicago. Soon after that they moved to the Arthur community where she lived the rest of her life. Mr. Anderson died 11 June 1956 at his home.

Mrs. Anderson worked as librarian for the city of Arthur from 1925 ulntil 1939. She had lived at Arthur since 1911.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Ruth) Caughlin of Arthur and Mrs. Bertil (Lorraine) Lovain of Upsala, Minnesota; five grandchildrern; and a sister, Mrs. Helen Hagerhjelm of Bellingham, Washington.
