Carl F. Altepeter, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 1999, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Carl was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Rosemary Langellier Altepeter, on October 19, 1998.
Carlis survived by his son, Craig Altepeter and his wife, Lynn of Memphis, TN, two daughters, Karla Bressan and her husband, Rick of Albuquerque, NM and Sherilyn Altepeter of Anaheim Hills, CA and daughter-in-law, Cherly Defoe Altepeter of Arvada, CO. His oldest son, Ronald Altepeter in 1984. Carl is also survived by his precious grandchildren, Katie and Krissy Bressan, Tenelle Marshall, Jeff Caywood and his wife, Jennifer and Kari Caywood and great-granddaughters, Jessica and Jenna Caywood. Carl is survived by one sister, Ruth Williams of San Diego, CA, one brother, C. Goar Altepeter of Lafayette, IN and many nieces and nephews.
Carl was born in Boswell, IN to Cyril and Elizabeth Kult Altepeter on January 11, 1921. Carl proudly served in the United States Army form 1942 until his retirement in 1968. Carl then worked for TWA in Albuquerque and Los Angles until he retired and returned to Albuquerque in 1982.
Carl was an avid woodworker, loved to walk, play golf and enjoyed travel worldwide with friends from TWA. Carl was a member of TWA Seniors' Club and St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
Carl faced his final challenge with faith, dignity and a sense of humor. Carl was an inspiration to all who were privileged to know him.
Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM on Tuesday, January 19, 1999 from 6:00 p.m. until the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 20, 1999 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Albuquerque, NM. Pallbearers will be Chett Ray, Frank Rebarchik, Herb Brazer, Dave Richards, Robert Randolph, Bob Gardner, Bill Burlingame and Dick Hicks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lovelace Hospice, 5655 Jefferson St. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
